Emergency Preparedness

As witnessed by the recent events in New Orleans and surrounding areas, disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. Often times you may not have much time to respond. After a disaster, local officials and relief workers will be on the scene, but may not be able to reach everyone immediately. Help could arrive in a few hours or it may take days. Would your family be prepared to cope with the emergency until help arrives?

The City of West Sacramento coordinates local flood preparedness and emergency planning efforts. Prior to the rainy season each year, for example, the City holds planning and coordination meetings with all State and County agencies and local reclamation districts. The meetings include those who are involved in flood preparedness, levee patrols, warning, evacuation, rescue, flood fighting, care and shelter, disaster recovery and related readiness activities.
